Flapi, YDreams’ in-house mascot, interact in real-time with a little girl and other physical obstacles in a new seamless augmented playground environment.
I get the impression that clever editing of the video and a good performance from the little girl makes this look more engaging and believable that the reality. For instance, I like the caption “note how mascot … occludes girl” but they cleverly cut away from instances when the character should go behind the girl. From an immersive point of view, having to look back at the screen is obviously a major barrier.; however, I get a feeling that using a handheld device to visualise the virtual would not be much less intrusive.
