High-tech AR uses UV LASERs to excite (normally transparent) red and green phosphorous embedded in car windscreen. Multiple sensors and cameras track the environment and the driver’s gaze (not sure if it tracks eye gaze).

The technology by GM, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Southern California won’t be available before 2018. (via Technology Review)
