Mobile markerless augmented-reality is provided by Metaio’s new SDK 2.0. Apparently. I can’t get the Symbian demo to work markerless. The 2D barcode and picture markers work with the example markers in the SDK manual though. Note that the demo in the video above is running on the TG-01 phone that has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor! Running the Symbian demo on a Nokia 97 Mini you get about 2 frames per second with over a second lag time irrespective of the tracking method. Given this performance I’m not sure it’s quite time to throw away your markers yet.
