Digital map control important for future of location-based services

Garmin trumps TomTom with $3.3bn bid for digital map provider TeleAtlas after Nokia bids $8.1bn for it’s only global rival (and Garmin’s original map provider) Navteq. Digital maps are used by SatNav, GPS and Internet-based services like Google Earth.
